Drug Bust Following Reckless Driving Incident
On March 16, 2014, officers with the Johnson City Police Department arrested Anthony Lee Metcalf, a 19-year-old resident of 175 Rockingham Road, Gray, TN 37615. He faces charges including Possession with Intent to Sell a Schedule I Drug, Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Drug, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence, Failure to Yield, and Violation of Implied Consent Law.
The incident occurred around midnight when officers observed a red Ford Focus nearly strike several pedestrians in a crosswalk on W. State of Franklin Road near Spring Street in downtown Johnson City. Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Anthony Lee Metcalf. During the investigation, they discovered Ecstasy and Xanax concealed on Metcalf and determined he was impaired by an unknown substance.
A K9 unit assisted in the search, uncovering marijuana, additional Xanax pills, and LSD in the vehicle. Authorities also found over $5,000 in cash, leading to the seizure of both the car and the money. Metcalf was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was held on a bond reported as $14,000, though some sources cite $31,000. His arraignment was scheduled for 10:30 A.M. on March 17, 2014, in Washington County General Sessions Court.
